Located in Stringtown, Mack Alford Correctional Center (MACC) was established in the 1930s as a sub-prison of Oklahoma State Penitentiary in nearby McAlester. It helped the state separate first-time convicts from OSP inmates and also provided work opportunities on the farm.
After that, the facility had stints as a sexually transmitted disease hospital, a German prisoner of war camp, and a school.
In 1956, it returned to being a farm. New fencing and towers were later added as it became a medium-security prison (named Stringtown Correctional Center in 1977). Its name was changed to that of a former warden in 1986. Today, MACC is home to more than 800 inmates.
Visitation
Visitation hours vary by each facility. An inmate's security level dictates how many hours he or she may visit with approved visitors.

Due to maximum capacity limits for the visitation area, approved visitors will be required to schedule their visit with the Visitation Coordinator, Kathryn Gragg at 580-346-7301 ext. 242. Visits must be scheduled between 8:00 A.M. Monday and 12:00 P.M. Wednesday for the following weekend.

The inmate will notify you when the process is complete. The approval process takes approximately 8 weeks once the Visitor Request Form has been returned to MACC.
Digital Mail - This process begins Sept. 1, 2024. Until then, please continue to send the mail to the facility.
Inmates can receive mail at any time. Include their name, DOC number and housing assignment if known in the address.
