Q. What is SCSEP?
A. SCSEP is the Senior Community Service Employment Program, a federally sponsored community service and work-based job training program for older Americans. SCSEP is authorized under title V of the Older Americans Act (OAA), 42 U.S.C. 3056 et seq., as amended by the Older Americans Act Amendments of 2006, Public Law 109-365.
Q. Who is eligible for SCSEP services? And what information is required to be eligible?
A. SCSEP is targeted for low-income, unemployed individuals, 55 and older, with poor employment prospects who want to enter the workforce. Applicants will need to show proof of residency, age, income, and be unemployed.
Q. How does this program impact Oklahoma?
A. SCSEP provides training opportunities for older Oklahomans to increase their job prospects, fostering individual economic self-sufficiency. It provides useful part time opportunities in community service assignments or work-based training activities, increasing the number of older persons who enjoy the benefits of unsubsidized employment in both public and private sectors.
