Frequently Asked Questions
The appeal process is a file review only. Once an appeal has been accepted, the appellant may provide additional written information to the Appeals Committee for review. The Appeals Committee reviews the child welfare investigation, relevant information from the computerized child welfare KIDS system, and additional written information from the appellant.
The Appeals Committee determines whether the confirmed finding(s) under appeal are upheld or reversed. The Appeals Section then updates the KIDS system, and notifies the appellant, appropriate child welfare staff and the office of the District Attorney of the final determination.
This decision is final and there is no further recourse to appeal.
