ANTLERS, OKLA. – Service Oklahoma is excited to announce the long-awaited opening of a new Licensing and Exam location in Antlers to serve the citizens in the southeastern portion of the state with large support from legislators and the community.
Service Oklahoma Antlers located at 1601 W Main Street is the 33rd Service Oklahoma location and is added to the 270+ sites where Oklahomans can get needed driver license services. Pushmataha County Commissioners, Mike Brittingham, Brad Burgett and John Roberts have been instrumental in opening the location for the past few years.
“We wanted a place right off the Turnpike that is easily accessible to the Pushmataha citizens,” said Brad Burgett, District 2 Pushmataha County Commissioner. “We have been working for a long time taking many trips into Oklahoma City to speak with Senators and Representatives to make this happen. This really is a blessing to our county.”
Previously, the nearest Service Oklahoma location citizens could visit to take a drive test, or a written test were Durant, Idabel and McAlester which are all about an hour drive from the town of Antlers.
"From the Service Oklahoma team, the legislators who have stepped in to help, to District 2 County Commissioner, Brad Burgett, helping us get our building prepped and ready because we know that having these services here in our county is vital for our community,” said Michael Brittingham, District 1 Pushmataha County Commissioner.
Sen. David Bullard and Rep. Justin Humphrey have also played a pivotal role in bringing driver license services to Antlers. They emphasize the importance of these long-anticipated services for the southeastern Oklahoma community which is relatively small in size with a population of 11,200, but home to a large logging and timber industry.
Senator David Bullard, District 6, which includes Pushmataha County:
“Having this new location will make getting a driver license so much more convenient for those in Antlers and the surrounding area. No longer will folks have to make the long drive to Durant, Idabel, or McAlester. I’m proud of the hard work and dedication the staff of Service Oklahoma has put into adding more locations statewide, along with innovative online services like mobile check-in, to save Oklahomans time and money. This is the type of efficient and convenient services citizens deserve.”
House Representative Justin Humphrey, District 19, which includes Pushmataha County:
"I am very excited about the opening of this new Service Oklahoma office in Antlers, Oklahoma, which will provide much-needed driver license services for southeastern Oklahoma and District 19. I am proud to work with Senators David Bullard and George Burns, as well as Pushmataha County Commissioners, and Service Oklahoma to provide this necessary office. I believe it is essential to credit the county commissioners for all the work they've done to obtain and remodel our new facility. I know this will greatly benefit our district."
A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on March 1st at 10 a.m. to officially welcome Pushmataha County metro residents.
Citizens will visit this location for necessary driver license services including drive tests and written tests. Service Oklahoma Antlers will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Service Oklahoma encourages all customers to visit service.ok.gov to ensure they meet service eligibility requirements and have all necessary documents to ensure a quick and efficient visit.
