ODOC officially took over the Great Plains Correctional Center from the GEO Group in May, 2023. The facility will house inmates from around the state, providing additional efficiencies, namely saving the State of Oklahoma $3.7 million per year in lease costs and will lower the per-bed, per-day rate by $1.31 based on capacities, all while enhancing public safety outcomes.

Beginning Nov. 30, visitation appointments will no longer be required to visit general population inmates at Great Plains Correctional Center in Hinton. Visits will occur on a first-come, first-served basis with 20 available slots per day. Visitation begins at 9 a.m.
Schedule: Fridays-Delta Unit; Saturdays-Echo Unit; Sundays-Charlie and Alpha Fox/Alpha Golf units.
STG units still require a scheduled visitation. The schedule is Thursdays-Bravo Unit; Mondays-Alpha Unit. To schedule a visitation, please call 405-778-7016 from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m., Monday through Wednesday.
If you loved one is in SMU, you will need to call to schedule.
Important Note:All inmate visitors must submit a “Visitor Request Form." You can download a copy here, or request one from the facility.Background checks will be completed on everyone 18 or older. The inmate will notify you when the process is complete. The approval process takes approximately 8 weeks once the Visitor Request Form has been returned to GPCC.
All visitors bringing children under the age of 18 to visit will provide documentation; such as a birth certificate, adoption papers, etc. to reflect parentage or guardianship. Once a child reaches 18 years of age, a visiting application will be completed in accordance with Section II. item A. of this procedure in order to be placed on the inmate’s visiting list.
Digital Mail - This process begins Sept. 1, 2024. Until then, please continue to send the mail to the facility.
Inmates can receive mail at any time. Include their name, DOC number and housing assignment if known in the address.
