The State of Oklahoma requires all contractors who will access, process, store or transmit state data to meet governmental entities’ needs must complete a background check prior to executing a release with a supplier.
Types of background checks:
- Criminal Justice Information System Level 1: This heightened background check is required when the resource will access, process, transmit or store criminal justice information when providing services to the State of Oklahoma. This background check includes completion of an online training and a background check conducted by the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety, which requires fingerprinting. - Level 2 Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation: This background check is required when the resource will access, process, transmit or store state data owned by Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation or Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control. Please email Katie Schott to initiate this background check.
- Criminal History Background Check: This background check is required for all resources that will access, process, store or transmit state data in connection with a release of SW 1025 that includes criminal justice information, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation data or Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control data. Please visit the OSBI website and request the following checks:
- OSBI Criminal History Database Service.
- ODOC Sex Offender Registry Search.
- ODOC Violent Offender Registry Search.
