Nursing Home Improvement Resources

This site is for nursing homes that are looking for resources to improve quality measures and composite scores. Resources that can assist with these types of improvements are listed below. Click each resource title for more details.

• Civil Monetary Penalty (CMP) Fund: This program is offered by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. CMP funds are intended to measurably improve care to benefit residents and patients in nursing homes, which include facilities certified for operation by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services defined as skilled nursing facilities, nursing facilities, and dually certified skilled/nursing facilities. More information on available projects and the CMP Fund can be found at cmp.health.ok.gov.

• Minimum Data Set (MDS) Educational Resources and Training: The Quality Improvement and Evaluation Service (QIES) Help Desk with the Oklahoma State Department of Health offers dedicated assistance to nursing home staff by bringing them up-to-date information, resources, announcements, and training. They can be reached by calling (405) 426-8160 or sending an email to mdshelp@health.ok.gov. • Oklahoma Foundation for Medical Quality (OFMQ): OFMQ is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing healthcare quality. They have consulted with Long Term Care facilities in Oklahoma since 2002 and are a trusted resource providing industry leading experts trained in helping to improve the quality of care of residents.

• The National Institute on Aging (NIA) offers information, research, and resources on healthy aging for older adults. NIA, one of the 27 Institutes and Centers of the National Institute of Health, leads a broad scientific effort to understand the nature of aging and to extend the healthy, active years of life. NIA is the primary Federal agency supporting and conducting Alzheimer's disease research.

• The National Nursing Home Quality Improvement (NNHQI) Campaign exists to provide long term care providers, consumers and their advocates, and quality improvement professionals with free, easy access to evidence-based and model-practice resources to support continuous quality improvement.
