- Investigate wage and hour complaints, interviewing individuals and corresponding with employers to ascertain facts and ensure compliance with state labor laws.
- Assist claimants in preparing claim documents, compile case files, and review payroll and employment records to determine the applicability of wage payment laws.
- Issue orders of determination, notice of civil penalties, and other disposition notices as required, based on thorough investigations and documentation.
- Provide technical assistance and training to public officials, private contractors, attorneys, and trade union officials on legal requirements and department procedures.
- Perform routine entry-level work to build skills in conducting investigations, counseling employees and employers on Fair Labor Standards, and ensuring compliance with wage and hour standards.

- Conduct inspections and investigations of asbestos abatement projects to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Prepare reports on consultations, inspections, progress, and final documentation; review closing documents for contractor billing and regulatory compliance.
- Inspect and test equipment and machinery related to asbestos abatement, including ventilation systems and temporary electrical setups.
- Maintain files and records related to asbestos operations; consult with private and public entities on asbestos management.
- Perform job-related travel and work irregular hours during emergencies; must be physically capable of strenuous activities and working in adverse environments.
