SHARP
The Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) is designed to recognize employers for OSHA standards compliance and their exemplary safety and health management systems. Worksites that receive SHARP recognition are exempt from OSHA programmed inspections for up to 1 or 2 years.
Employers that have implemented proven safety and health management programs, and work to continuously improve effectiveness may be eligible for this national recognition program. Employers who attain SHARP status are recognized as a model for worksite safety and health. SHARP certification exempts businesses from Federal OSHA’s scheduled inspections for the duration of the certification.
Companies that have met all the requirements for SHARP will experience fewer and less severe injuries and illness and have lower workers compensation costs and insurance premiums. The primary beneficiaries of SHARP are employees, who at the end of the day are safe and healthy.
Benefits
The primary beneficiaries of SHARP are your employees, who, at the end of the workday, can return to their families safe and healthy. At the same time, fewer injuries and illnesses can mean greater profits as workers’ compensation, insurance premiums and other costs decline. A SHARP designation also comes with a national endorsement and recognition in the community. Being SHARP also exempts your company from planned OSHA inspections.
